Meet the Lost Girl

Hey there! Welcome to my little piece of real estate online. My name is Genevieve, and this is where I come to share my life and thoughts with the world, as I find myself coming back to my home. The word home can mean many things, but in Lost Girl Finding Home, the meaning is quite different than the typical definition. For years, I’ve run from everything that is good for me; from everything that once brought me happiness. They say home is where the heart is, and it is more than just a physical place. At the age of 40, it is time to stop running. I’m passionate about many things, so I write about many things in this blog. I can’t stick to just one topic. I’ve tried; not happening. A few things I may talk about the most are spirituality, Disney, and thrifting.

My Spirituality

My grandparents began taking me to church regularly at the age of 10, when they became my legal guardians. As a preteen and teen, I was a very devout Christian. Being heavily involved in my church’s youth group and my school’s community service club, I was given the chance to help people in various communities, including an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. These are some of my happiest and fulfilling moments.

My love for helping people grew so much during this mission trip with my youth group. It was so amazing to have the opportunity to help this orphanage in Tijuana and to spend time with the children!

The decisions I’ve made in my life have taken me down so many different paths. To make a very long story short, for the sake of this introduction, I made the active decision to turn away from the God of my youth in 2015. After studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses for 2 years, I decided to leave Christianity entirely after I began researching other religions. I had honestly been blind to what other people believed because I was so involved with my church growing up. I eventually learned of Neo Paganism, and I felt like I had come home. It resonated with my love for nature and a curiosity of the diverse gods and goddesses. I was also fascinated with the idea of magick.

The last decade has been a rollercoaster of experience and emotions. My spiritual beliefs have continued to grow and shift as I discover the knowledge and practices of our ancestors. They have become less about pinning down my practice into a specific belief system, and more about personally exploring my soul’s passions, and allowing myself to just go with the flow. I believe that all life is sacred and that all cultures and religions in the world are part of the same river. I am fascinated by the reasons people believe what they believe and the influence that culture has on a person’s religious views. We are all just souls having a human experience, and I hope to share a bit of my soul’s journey with you.

My Love for Disney

Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, the storytelling of Walt Disney was very much a part of my childhood. VHS movies, toys, games, a couple trips to Disneyland as a young kid. I loved it all. But my passion didn’t really start to grow until my grandparents gave me an annual pass to Disneyland when I was 10.

I was born and raised in Orange County, CA, so we lived a short distance from the park. I spent the next 4 years going on grand adventures through Walts’ wonderful imagination, battling pirates on the high seas, celebrating unbirthdays with Alice, and my favorite, gliding through a haunted mansion in hopes that I would be chosen as the 1000th happy haunt.

Those years left me with many amazing memories, and a love for Disney that continued to grow. I have not been back to Disneyland in over 20 years, but I am finally planning a trip for the end of 2025! My children are now almost adults, but they grew up experiencing the magic of Disneyland through Youtube videos. I am so happy that I can finally introduce them to my 2nd home.

Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. I truly believe that if we share our thoughts, feelings, and experiences with one another, we will learn that we have a lot more in common than we once believed.
